The variety and distribution of animal species depend on the vegetation that harbor them, climatic factors and the land morphology. This set of elements contributes to the formation of different habitats and ecosystems where the balance of life will only be disturbed by human behavior.

The Mediterranean environment hostile forces invertebrates  to develop retrofit. Often these animals shelter from the sun under rocks or in litter and come out at night, some do even more and they do an estivation.
