STAND UP PADDLE
The most fun activity along the beaches or in the calanques. Our little tip: do it in the morning for optimum conditions!

We offer stand-up paddle rental by the hour in La Ciotat. We'll be happy to advise you on different routes to suit your level and your desires. You'll be able to explore our unique natural heritage on the water.
We have rigid paddles, known as "initiation" paddles. They are more stable than inflatable paddles in particular.
Stand-up paddling (SUP) is an easy-to-access activity that provides a thrill from the moment you get the hang of it. Physical commitment is within everyone's grasp, and the size and weight of the user make the board more or less stable.
Don't wait any longer: get on board!
Unlike kayaking, stand-up paddling at sea is much more tiring! So if you're a novice, we advise you to take just one hour to discover the sensations.
It's also a very weather-dependent activity! The wind is our greatest enemy... When it's mistral, it sends us out to sea, making it virtually impossible to return. When it comes from the south, it creates waves that destabilize us, and the currents prevent us from enjoying the activity. So be sure to check the sea conditions on site, or the marine weather forecast, before booking. You can also call us to find out.
If you're more interested in visiting the Calanques and Ile Verte, we recommend kayaking, which is less affected by the wind, but still moves twice as fast as a stand-up paddle.

Stand Up Paddle (SUP): a physical activity!
SUP is a water sports activity that allows you to enjoy the sea or lakes, but also to get to grips with white water or the crashing waves. Often considered a leisure activity for tourists, it can also be practised competitively! SUP boards can be hard or inflatable, and the longer and wider they are, the greater their stability.
On this trip, you'll practice SUP Cruising. It's a fun, discovery ride of varying lengths, ideal for keeping fit and sharing time with friends and family. There are two other ways to practice SUP:
- The Race, for demanding long-distance races. A high level of training and physical commitment are required to combine speed and endurance. This is a competitive discipline, and SUP is a member of the French Surfing Federation.
- Surfing, like surfing, is the practice of taking waves offshore by paddling into them. This substitute for surfing has the advantage of being easier to spot, but also easier to catch: no need to stand up on the board!
.
This activity is actually the ancestor of surfing.
It was once practiced by Polynesian kings on huge boards carved from tree trunks. It was the famous Hawaiian swimming champion Duke Hananamoku who took up the sport and revived it in the 1940s-50s. Later, surfers used it to keep fit. They then began to convert SUP into surfboarding.
Long overlooked by the general public, this sport is now becoming increasingly popular with holidaymakers. Renowned for its physical benefits, it's an activity suitable for all ages. And for all levels of fitness.
